How to become a local language trainer / representative in the GO network?

Our mission

to transform international corporate communication culture in medium- and large-sized companies in South and Central America and the Caribbean

via

  1. Systematic improvement in foreign language use - especially in B2B (business-to-business) transactions
  2. Developing international/intercultural communication skills
  3. Standardizing communication processes within a company’s quality management system (according to ISO 9001, for example)

Our goal is to consult 4-5 of your country’s top companies with a focus on international trade and relations.

Our clients

  • Importers/exporters that have to entertain relations with a variety of countries and regions, and that are always looking for new partners and markets
  • International companies with a representation in your country
  • Companies that face a lot of communication in foreign languages or with diverse foreign customers (e.g. tourism and hotel business, organizers of trade shows and exhibitions, business/industry associations)
  • Mostly, clients are from the private sector. However, government institutions that rely on international cooperation through international organizations or projects qualify, too (e.g. protocolar departments in foreign ministries, diplomatic academies or trade facilitation departments)

Your benefits

  • If you are currently offering language courses, you will probably charge per hour. In our case, companies will pay for an entire consultancy package, which will allow for a higher than usual per hour salary.
  • You may raise your status as a language teacher by being affiliated with an international company and network.
  • You may gain new expertise in management training which will extend your career options.

Our principles and values

  • Long-term, but honest growth
  • Focusing more on retaining few, but loyal customers
  • Our cooperation should increase your international network. Over time, you should get opportunities in other countries and continents, too.
  • You will develop new professional skills that may open up new career paths (e.g. in management / corporate consulting)
  • In the initial phase, you should invest as little voluntary work as possible. As soon as we have clients in your region/country, your real job starts. Until then, you just remain on hold and wait until I have done my job.

Contracts and payments

  • We will work out an arragement that is safe and convenient for you.
  • We will take into consideration your local legal requirements and personal preferences.

How to start the process?

First, it will typically take some time before we will have our first client.

Your part would start with Step 5. Step 1 is optional for you, but it could speed up the entire process immensely.

Step 1: 1-3 free 60-90 minutes webinars on communication psychology, language improvement and quality management

  • You get an idea about the methods and philosophy.
  • You can invite some friends, colleagues and even current or former students.
  • We can get feedback on how relevant this is for your local culture.
  • I can adapt my presentations and materials for your country.

Step 2: Networking with local business associations and chambers of commerce

  • Finding mutually beneficial arrangements (some associations act as service providers to their member companies)
  • Finding out more about the local market, about gaps and needs in the area of corporate communication

Step 3: Webinars for members of a specific business association

Step 4: Sales process with individual companies

  • Identifying 4-5 companies that will benefit most from our consultancy
  • Identifying their specific needs and gaps

Step 5: Providing consultancy services

  • Improving internal and external communication processes within the company, including a communication audit
  • Training  (1. Communication psychology and intercultural/international differences, 2. Regular hybrid Language/management trainings, ideally in-house) (your part)

Hybrid language/management training

Step 1: Identifying a list of 20 typical or critical communication situations with international contacts that are most relevant for a specific company

Step 2: Preparing/adapting training materials for role play

Example: You could use also the help of AI by asking specifically: ”What could the representative of an American industry tools company on his first visit to Guayana ask when meeting the marketing director of a local distribution company.?”

Step 3: Setting up a regular lesson schedule, once or twice a week for small groups of 4-8 participants. Ideally, within the company's premises.

Step 4: During lessons, you let participants roleplay the situation of the week. After that, they will give each other feedback using detailed feedback forms and procedures.

You can film parts of the roleplaying, and later analyze and compare perceptions

Language improvement

  • As a teacher, you document typical language mistakes in a standard form.
  • You ask the group to find and correct the mistakes first. Only if nobody finds it, you help.
  • You analyze why the student made the mistake. Was it just lack of attention, a vocabulary problem or a grammar gap?
  •  If necessary, you expand on the underlying grammar rule.
  • You make students practice on 1 or 2 of the identified problems.
  • After each lesson, each student goes home with individualized priorities and specific homework for repeating grammar.
